Training Programs

Field personnel are required to take basic field training covering company safety policies, personal survival, use of communication devices, bear behavior & defense, basic firearms handling, chainsaw safety & handling, safe use of vehicles and hazardous material handling.

Prospective lead line cutters (fallers) are required to take a two-day training course before beginning on-the-job training with an experienced lead cutter. Generally two to four week’s work with an experienced line cutter is required before a new line cutter is certified for independent work.

The company offers formal in-house training to geophysical technicians in basic training and the conduct of geophysical surveys. Formal training is offered for total magnetic field surveys, gravity surveys, induced polarization surveys, horizontal loop electromagnetic surveys and time domain electromagnetic field surveys. Formal training involves a theory course and practical lessons on instrument use and survey procedures. Candidates are given a written test and required to complete a probationary period under the supervision of an experienced geophysicist or technician. Training in the conduct of ground radar, borehole and seismic surveys is done one-on-one as required.

The company provides professional development opportunities to our geologists, geophysicists and technicians, offering them opportunity to participate in short courses and conferences and in a program of in-house professional training using videos of conference proceedings.
