GIS Technician

There is currently an opening for a GIS Technician in our Yellowknife office. Aurora Geosciences Ltd is seeking a self-motivated individual who possesses an aptitude for GIS software and spatial mapping. The successful candidate will support the digital mapping and data analysis operations and contribute to the team as needed. Job responsibilities will include:

• Provide basic GIS analysis and mapping support to the entire Yellowknife office
• Analysis and interpretation of various data sets and maps using several GIS software packages
• Produce presentation quality maps and report figures
• Be responsible for general computer hardware and software maintenance

The successful candidate will hold a degree or diploma in GIS or in an Earth sciences related field with GIS experience. Additional requirements of the position include:

• Ability to multi-task and efficiently manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Excellent time management skills
• Experience with ESRI ArcGIS suite of software, Geosoft Oasis Montaj,  MapInfo, and the Microsoft Office suite of software
• Familiarity with database concepts
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• High attention to detail and organizational skills
• The ability to quickly grasp and apply new concepts in both GIS and other software utilization
